Winning in First Person Shooter Games

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Steadily making its reputation as one of the most popular hobbies today, multiplayer First Person shooters (FPS) games provide fun and entertainment for people of all ages. If you like these games, let me tell you how to make these types of video games more fun and entertaining for you by being able to score more kills.

First of all you have to understand that in most FPS games, scoring is simple to understand. The more effort you put into killing another player, the higher score you get for that kill. This means that you get more points offing someone with your melee weapon than using a high powered machine gun. But then running around like a serial killer with your knife out in a gunfight will surely get put you at the bottom of the scoreboard unless you’re extremely good at the game.

Camping at the spawn site where gets revived after they are killed is one good way to get more kills. Basically you get a long range weapon, like a sniper rifle, find a nice spot, like a ridge or building near enemy campsite and wait for the enemies to respawn then you can easily pick them off. After they die, they respawn in the same spot so just repeat the earlier procedure. You’ll get fewer points for this but then in this case, quantity makes up for quality.

When doing this, the spot you choose is very important. The ideal spot would be somewhere elevated and has a good vantage point of the area. There are also games where the sun has an effect on the game so in this case, find a spot with the sun at your back, you’ll be harder to see and you won’t be blinded by the glare.

Cooperating with your teammates is also a good way to get a higher score. Don’t just go around alone and shooting everything that moves, try to work as a team and you’re chances of survival increase and allows all of you to become more effective killers in the game.

There have been times when I’d take control of a helicopter and other players would jump in but they wouldn’t help me in attacking the enemies as they would much rather fight as an army of one, reducing the chance of us winning as a team. Similar to blackjack, a player can cause the loss of all the others by making bad decisions during his turn.

Remember, to win, you must first of all have a good strategy, work well as a team and use all the resources at your disposal. Once you do this, you are guaranteed to win more games and have a lot more fun at playing online multiplayer games.
